O Governador do Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, anunciou nesta segunda-feira, 28 de março, que irá renunciar ao cargo na próxima quinta-feira, 31 de março. Segundo ele, deve permanecer no PSDB e se colocar a disposição de um debate sobre o futuro do Brasil. 

Leite disputou as prévias do PSDB no ano passado e perdeu a disputa para o Governador de São Paulo, João Dória. Leite realizou o anúncio na ala residencial do Palácio Piratini na presença dos pais, da imprensa, ao lado da prefeita de Pelotas, Paula Mascarenhas e do vice-governador, Ranolfo Vieira Jr. Ranolfo está filiado ao PSDB e deve assumir o cargo de Governador a partir do dia 01 de abril. Com esse movimento, o único cargo que ele pode ser candidato em outubro é o de Governador. 

"A renúncia me abre muitas possibilidades, todas elas e não me tira nenhuma delas. Esse é o movimento que faço", afirmou Leite. Eduardo Leite diz que ação não é sobre prévias, partido e sim sobre Brasil. "Telefonei ao governador João Dória e reafirmamos estar com o mesmo sentimento de avaliar alternativas. Não é sobre projeto pessoal, é sobre o Brasil".
